Victoria Point

Victoria Point, a suburb located in Redland City, is 35 minutes away from the Brisbane CBD. Jutting out into the bay, it is sandwiched between between Thornlands and Redland Bay.

Aborigines call Victoria Point Warra Warra, which likely means mussels.

Farmers first started coming to Victoria Point in 1860. They were small farmers who grew various crops and vegetables. They were able to send their crops by boat when a jetty was built off the end of Victoria Point in 1909. The suburb gradually developed into a popular holiday destination and campers would travel to the area annually.

For many years, Victoria was a farming and holiday destination. But by the 1980s, it was rapidly evolving from a farming community into a residential area.

Though mainly a residential area, the suburb is home to other public complexes as well. Eprapah, the Charles S Snow Scout Environment Training Centre, is a bushland dedicated as a Scout campsite for environmental education.
