Tingalpa is a suburb of Brisbane, located 10 km east of the central business district. It is bounded by Belmont, Cannon Hill, Hemmant and Manly West.

The origin of the suburb’s name may have been derived from Tingalpa Creek, which is located 5 km east, or came from the Turrubal words tangul (plant for stupefying fish) and pa (place).

Though it is not a suburb of Redlands, Tingalpa is just a short drive via New Cleveland Road to Redlands. Housing is cheaper and as a bonus, acreage is available in Chandler for those who are fond of horses.

Older style homes constructed in the post war era, particularly weatherboard and chamferboard post war cottages, can be found throughout Tingalpa. The new estates built in the area mostly consist of low set and high set brick and tile homes. Originally, the land now being developed into residential areas was dedicated to small farms and semi-industrial developments.

The most recent developments happened in the past five years.
