Below is a list of tools provided by the Australian Tax Office (ATO) you can use from time to time.

    • Interactive GST calculation worksheet for the BAS (Nat 5107)

      This worksheet allows you to work out GST amounts for your BAS. Do not lodge the worksheet with your BAS. We recommend you file it with a copy of the BAS to which it relates. NAT 5107.

      Employers can use this tax table for Employment Termination Payments.

  • Capital Gains Tax (CGT)

      The fringe benefits tax (FBT) car calculator helps employers calculate the taxable value of a car fringe benefit using either the statutory formula method or the operating cost method.

  • Fuel Tax Credits

      The fuel tax credit calculator is an easy to use tool that calculates the fuel tax credit entitlement for the purposes of preparing claims via the business activity statement (BAS).

    • Fuel tax credit eligibility tool

      This decision tool is designed to assist you in determining whether the fuel you use in your business may be eligible for fuel tax credits.

  • Income Tax

    • Baby bonus calculator

      The last claim year for the baby bonus was the 2008-2009 income year. However, you have until 30 June 2014 to lodge your baby bonus claim for 2009 and prior income years.

    • Beneficiary tax offset calculator

      This calculator will help you work out your beneficiary tax offset. The beneficiary tax offset is available to taxpayers who receive certain Centrelink benefits and Commonwealth education allowances.

    • Comprehensive tax calculator

      This calculator will help you work out your tax refund or debt on a given taxable income for the 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 income years.

    • Decline in value calculator

      This calculator provides reports of decline in value calculations. This includes disposal calculations, and comparisons between the prime cost and diminishing value methods of calculating deductions for decline in value.

    • Division 7A calculator and decision tool

      Determine if a direct transaction by a private company to a shareholder or their associate will be deemed a dividend under Division 7A, and calculate the minimum yearly repayment required on a loan to avoid a deemed dividend arising under Division 7A.

    • Foreign income conversion calculator

      This calculator will assist you to translate (convert) foreign income into Australian Dollars, using either a specific or an average rate of exchange for a range of countries.

    • HELP repayment calculator

      This calculator will help you work out the amount of compulsory Higher Education Loan Programme (HELP) repayment on assessment of your income tax return.

    • Home office expenses calculator

      This calculator will help you work out the deduction you can claim where a home office is used for income producing purposes.

    • Income tests calculator

      This calculator will help you work out your adjusted taxable income (ATI), rebate income, income for Medicare levy surcharge purposes and private health insurance rebate percentage.

      This calculator will help you work out whether or not your scholarship is taxable.

    • Low income tax offset calculator

      This calculator will help you work out whether you are eligible for the low income tax offset. It also calculates the amount of your offset if your taxable income is less than the low income tax offset threshold.

      This calculator will help you work out your Medicare levy, including any half or full exemptions, and reductions based on family income.

    • SFSS repayment calculator

      This calculator will help you work out the amount of compulsory SFSS repayment on assessment of your income tax return.

    • Simple tax calculator

      This calculator will help you work out the tax you owe on your taxable income.

    • Work related car expenses calculator

      This calculator will help you work out all four methods of work related car expenses.

    • Work related uniform expenses calculator

      Calculates work related uniform, clothing, laundry and dry cleaning expenses deduction.

    • Zone or overseas forces tax offset calculator

      This calculator will help you work out your eligibility for the zone or overseas forces tax offset and calculates the tax offset that you can claim. It also contains links to the Australian zone list and the overseas forces specified localities listing.

  • PAYG Withholding

    • What is the Tax Withheld Calculator (TWC)?

      The Tax Withheld Calculator is to assist in determining the correct amount of tax to be withheld from income paid weekly, fortnightly, monthly or quarterly.

    • Online version of the Tax withheld calculator

      This calculator can be used online to assist in determining the correct amount of tax to be withheld.

  • Superannuation

    • Employment termination payment calculator

      Employers can use this calculator to determine the tax free and taxable components of an employment termination payment made on or after 1 July 2012.

    • Superannuation Guarantee (SG) contributions calculator

      Use this tool to calculate SG contributions for your eligible employees for a current quarter, including the period within 28 days after the end of that quarter.

    • Superannuation Guarantee (SG) eligibility decision tool

      Use this decision tool if you have employees (including some contractors) to check their eligibility for SG contributions.

    • Superannuation guarantee charge statement and calculator tool

      Use this tool if you are late in paying your employees’ superannuation contributions to a superannuation fund. It will enable you to calculate your SGC liability and prepare the SGC statement to be lodged with the Tax Office.
